Drago joins The MADBIT Association to promote the arrival of investments

Madrid, 9th march 2023.-

Madrid a Stairway to Investment Heaven. The Spanish capital, not only the city of Madrid, but the whole Region of Madrid, is becoming one of the most attractive places in the world to set up and do business. In 2021, the region received 73% of all foreign investment coming into Spain. Its open and tax attractive economy, entrepreneur-friendly legislation and its powerful logistics and infrastructure network are behind this ability to attract talent and investment, which has been echoed by prestigious international media outlets, such as The New York Times.

There are industries that have been betting on Madrid for some time, such as the technology and data centre sectors, and when it comes to setting up in the Spanish capital, most of them choose the Julián Camarillo district. This area, bounded by Calle Alcalá and the avenues of Canillejas and Institución Libre de Enseñanza, has a privileged location, both for its easy access from the main arrival points to the capital and for its proximity to the city center. Since 2017, when it was renamed MADBIT, the area has undergone significant change, focusing on urban regeneration, decarbonisation and digitalisation.

MADBIT concentrates large laboratories and the offices of multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Rovi, ALK-Abelló and, recently, L’Oréal and Moderna. Other businesses with offices in the area are the insurance companies Santa Lucía and Pelayo, or the construction organizations Ferrovial and Dragados (ACS Group). Many tech enterprises have also chosen this district, such as Indra, IBM or Bosch. Moreover, in January it was announced that the Ministry of Finance will build its Tax IT Department in MADBIT, confirming the technological profile of the area. Likewise, in recent years, data centres have gained prominence with developments by large multinationals such as Digital Reality (formerly Interxion) and Nabiax.

Drago, through Bifur, a subsidiary of Azaria Rental SOCIMI listed on the BME Growth market, is present in the area as the owner of Miguel Yuste 40, historic headquarters of Diario El País, a building that plans to refurbish following the latest sustainability and energy efficiency criteria.

For this reason, and with the firm objective of supporting the development of the area, Drago has decided to sign up for the MADBIT Association and thus joins other large companies such as Torre Rioja, BNP Paribas, Meridia Capital and Starwood, already members of such Association.

With this membership, Drago shows its commitment to Madrid and the importance of promoting projects that generate hubs of coexistence, in which industry, commerce, green areas and residential buildings converge.
