Drago commemorates the year of Murillo in Seville with a large canvas featuring figures from the baroque painter’s masterpieces

Commemorating the 400th anniversary since the birth of the baroque painter from Seville, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682), the city celebrates and highlights his brilliance throughout the year with different actions and events throughout. Drago in support of the city and its cultural events has installed a giant building wrap covering the entire DRAGO building under construction with the Murillo theme. This building is being refurbished and will soon be home to an Autograph Collection hotel by AC by Marriott. The building, formerly the Banco de Andalucía’s old headquarter on Avenida de la Constitución, is located within the commercial hub of the city and will hold not only the hotel but an important commercial area of 2,000m2 on the ground floor and a beautiful roof top terrace with panoramic views of the entire city.

The building wrap, was designed by the Advertising Agency, Código Media. The canvas print rises covering the 8 floors of the entire building under construction where pedestrians can see figures from some of the masterpieces of the baroque genius, all of them belonging to the Seville’s Museum of Fine Arts collection. The design includes the Year of Murillo’s slogan: “Sevilla. La mirada innovadora” (Seville, the innovative view) as well as Murillo’s signature that transforms into the commemorative logo. The graphics used on the canvas are intended to raise awareness of the four-hundredth anniversary of his birth and intends to highlight how history and innovation, past and present go hand in hand in this event in which not only the extraordinary legacy of the painter is remembered, but also takes a look at today’s Seville as a cultural and modern capital city.
